The Things We Lose

If you know me well, you'll know I have a chronic tendency of losing things.

Proof: December 2009... the year I left my life in a cab. I learned some important lessons in that tumultuous experience, like the benefits of letting go and the euphoric release that results when coming to terms with your losses.

For years I've been meaning to explore this theme more deeply in some shape or form, and now I finally have the chance. This year will be the third year in a row creating a public art project for Toronto's subway system. It's always an exciting challenge to think about new ways of engaging people (on an emotional level) in public spaces.

So what about you... Have you lost something of significance? Stolen bike, lost keys, long lost love? Consider participating in The Things We Lose.

I'd like to think that at the core of this project is the message that sometimes we must lose things in order to find something greater. And sometimes in loss we discover what really matters.
