a hydro picnic under the stars somewhere in suburbia

When I think of the Suburbs I think of Newmarket. I think of home. I think of long driveways and big backyards. Neighbours that share things like lawn mowers and soccer balls and designated drivers.  I think of days and nights driving with my best friend Bill. Sitting in the passenger's seat of his broken down ASTRO mini van listening to Joni. Love struck and high strung. Pining over another tragic break with the same boy. That same lovely boy.  Doc martins and lumberjack wool socks pulled up to knee caps. Driving. Manual window rolled down. Bill's cigarette hanging out to dry. Just driving. Always to the same sort of places. A park. A parking lot (on colder nights). Just sitting in suburbia on the closest patch of grass we could find. Pretending we're somewhere else.

(I am not entirely sure what any of that has to do with this installation. But there you have it.)
